About Us

Established in 1822 the Traubinger winery remains family-owned and is now managed by the 4th generation. It all began with the purchase of a house on a sunny hillside. Great-grandfather saw the potential and decided to abandon his trade as a blacksmith and plant his own vineyard.

In the early years, the company experienced some difficulties and there were some setbacks, from which great-grandfather was not discouraged. The whole family helped with the work, cultivated the vines and was pleased with the earnings, which hung on the vines in the fall and begged to be turned into wine. Since the crop was not enough in the early years to feed the whole family, great-grandmother concentrated on ways to increase production from livestock and the growing of fruits and vegetables.

The turn of the century was a turning point for the Traubinger winery because my caring grandfather began the production of different varieties. As a little boy who also helped his father, and later with my father, with the care of the vineyard and control of pests. While everything was done manually on the estate at the time of my grandfather, my father has gradually acquired modern technology. I have taken the innovation of my father further despite our commitment to organically grow our grapes and not give up technology. We are still a small family business with few employees, who take care of the maintenance of the winery, Traubinger vineyards, as well as the processing of our grape varieties into aromatic wines for connoisseurs.

Traubinger Tradition

Many milestones have brought our Traubinger winery to where it is today. Tradition and progress played a primary role in its success.

2014: Our first apprentice in the wine trade was taught the traditional methods of the Traubinger  winery; the art of viticulture and winemaking. New contacts for global trade relations were established. Weingut Traubinger was pleased about the awards his wines received.

2013: Paul Traubinger put me in the vineyard. Prior to his retirement, he modernized the Traubinger winery and purchased equipment for the grape harvest. Following the departure of my father I asked a few employees to manage additional vineyards since we increased our production.

1940: Great-grandfather died at an advanced age, so Grandfather Klaus Traubinger took over  the responsibility for the winery and led it along with his son, Paul Traubinger and his wife Hannelore. The Traubinger winery was well known in the beautiful Rheinland not only in the local vicinity.

1822: Hans Traubinger bought a piece of land on the mountain and decided to replant the sunny slope with vines. The thought of their own winery was born. The realization of the project took a few more years to realize. From the time the company was founded it was clear that the Traubinger winery should be a family owned and operated business. 1880 Klaus Traubinger, my grandfather rose in the family business and also gave my father a variety of tasks at the winery.
